Happy Thursday, loves! Officially one week until Christmas Eve and I'm really getting into the holiday mood now that my toughest finals are over! The holidays are by far my favorite time of year, from spending time with family and loved ones, to all those holiday parties. Besides, it's hard not to be in a festive mood while getting dressed up in embellished sweaters and sequined dresses...
I think I found my match in this embellished crystal fair isle sweater. Loving that the print serves as an accent piece instead of being overly obnoxious as the whole design of the sweater. I'm not a huge fan of the whole fair isle print because it can get a little too over the top for me and it's usually harder to pair when its not in season. I feel that this sweater would be great even after the holiday season, paired with some dark wash skinny jeans or layered over a button up shirt. I'm all about pieces that are meant to last and that can be versatile in multiple outfit pairings these days. So, when it came down to getting a holiday sweater this year, I naturally went for something that was a bit more understated, but still had that holiday feel!
When the colder weather arrives, it's all about making a statement in your overcoat. I am definitely guilty of owning almost every kind of outerwear design possible, from duster coats to peacoats. I blame it on the insanely cold winter we had last year where I was pretty much living in just one staple coat every single day. Wanted to make sure that wasn't the case this year, so I got down to investing in a couple of classic pieces.
Anddddd what is more classic than the double breasted peacoat?! I was drawn to this particular coat because of its oversized design. When I'm shopping for outerwear, I want to make sure that the piece doesn't fit too snug because of layering considerations. I'm one of those people who goes a bit layering crazy during the colder months, especially with my chunky turtleneck knits. So, it never hurts to get a coat in an oversized design--just make sure that the shoulders and sleeves fit perfectly, otherwise you'll end up getting lost in that huge coat!
With such an oversized coat, keeping the other pieces in the look a bit more form fitting will help make sure you aren't completely lost in the oversized design. I'm a huge fan of these faux leather skinny trousers at the moment because they add such a great texture to any outfit pairing. That faux leather adds just the right amount of chic to those classic pieces.
Hope you're all enjoying the holiday season so far. Can't believe its already a week before Christmas Eve! Have you got your gift list finalized? Cause I'm still struggling with a few people on my list. Don't worry--I'll be sharing a holiday gift guide soon for all you procrastinators. ;D
